This is an outstanding opportunity to join an ambitious and energetic Economics Department in delivering the Economics A Level (Edexcel) and IB Economics curricula. A keen interest in participating and developing the Department’s extracurricular and extension offering is essential.  A willingness to also teach Business would be desirable.

The role is advertised on a full-time basis though part time applications will be considered – please outline this in your application.

The Ardingly Economics Department aims to achieve excellent results and promote pupils’ engagement with Economics both inside and outside the classroom. The Economics Society is a student-led group that meets on a regular basis, organising speaker visits and pupil presentations as well as trips to attend lectures. The Economics Book Club aims to engage students in contemporary economic issues and ideas beyond the syllabus. Also, the Department has taught the CISI Fundamentals of Financial Services Level 2 Award as part of the College’s Enrichment Programme. In addition, there are weekly clinics to support pupils with their academic work.  The Department runs a trip to London every year, with students having a tour of the City of London and visiting the Bank of England.

The Economics Department currently teaches 74 A Level students (studying Edexcel Economics A) and 40 IB students (the majority of whom are studying the subject at Higher Level).  We are a friendly and innovative Department, and we teach one of the most popular subjects in the Sixth Form. Our students achieve good exam results, Summer 2025 bringing 46% A-A* for A level and 86% 6-7 for IB.  Over the past few years, we have had many students receive offers to read Economics-related subjects at university (including PPE and Economics & Management at Oxford as well as Land Economy at Cambridge).  Many other students have gone on to study Economics at a variety of Russell Group universities in the UK as well as highly regarded universities overseas.
